Soup After School began on November 4, 2014. This ministry was the brainchild of John Zanka and his sister Sandy. They made the soup, andJohn’s wife Pat painted the wooden sign out in front of the church. Their mother, Mary Ann, came along to keep the two of them in line! From OC, the convenience store across the street, have come soda and brownies.
Meanwhile, other members of the faith community engage the kids in activities that tie in with the worship life of the church. For All Souls’ Day, the children have made memory cards to reflect on their departed loved ones. For St. Nicholas’ Day, the children made holiday treats.

That first year, Holy Trinity offered Soup After School on the first Tuesday of each month from November to May. In Fall of 2015, with help from the Cathedral of St. James, we started in October and expanded to the first and third Tuesdays. This year, in recognition many people get paid on the 1st/15th of the month, we are switching over to offer Soup After School on the 2nd/4th Tuesdays so that folks can get a hot meal when their paycheck has run out.
After clearing away the dishes at 6pm, those who want to join us for worship troop into the church for a 6:30pm Eucharist where we give thanks for the opportunity to seek and serve Christ in every human being. Our hope is that the transition from supper table to communion table will become yet another way in which we can offer our neighbors a taste of the life we share in Christ. Pray with us that, in that taste, both we and our neighbors will see that the Lord is good!
